Six members of Highgate Poets have had a total of ten poems selected for inclusion in the anthology The Book of Love and Loss (Belgrave Press, Bath). It is being compiled by RV Bailey and June Hall. Members who had poems selected are Anne Ballard, Annemarie Cooper, Frances Galleymore, Anna Meryt, Vicky Olliver, and Robert Peake.
Member Frances Galleymore’s poems “Magpie Jazz”, and “Wood, Metal, Plastic” and member Norbert Hirschhorn’s poems “Ode to My Old Passport Wallet”, and “Bob the Artist Feeling Sorry for Himself” appear in Peloton (Templar, 2013).
Members Frances Galleymore and Robert Peake have poems forthcoming in both Issue 15 and Issue 16 of South Bank Poetry. The launch reading for Issue 15 will take place at the Poetry Café on April 18th at 8PM.
Urban Harvest, the 26th anthology of the Highgate Poets, is now available to order online. Comprised of poems by seventeen poet-members, this attractive 70-page paperback celebrates a diverse range of views and voices in the contemporary poetry of North London.
Several members read poems at the Urban Harvest book launch reading, held at the Camden/Lumen Poetry Series. Books will also become available for ordering online shortly. Meanwhile, here are some photos from the evening.
Member Frances Galleymore has two poems–“The Liminal” and “Crow’s Vest”–in Obsessed With Pipework No 60. Her ten-poem mini collection “Mischievous Geography” is also Runner Up for the Geoff Stevens Memorial Poetry Prize.
Member Frances Galleymore’s poem “My Father Travelled” has won First Prize in the 2012 Battered Moons Poetry Competition. She will be reading at the awards ceremony at Swindon Festival of Literature, at 7.30pm on Friday 11th May with the other prizewinners and the judge, Michael Symmons Roberts. Event details.
