Hour of Writes is a project dedicated to making sure a moment of inspiration becomes a piece of writing. Members are given a short prompt each week, to which they have an hour to respond in any manner or form they want. The following weekend, each entrant is given the work of three others to mark, and a judge selects the winners.
For last weeks theme, Attack and Receive, Jack Cooper selected a winner and two runners-up. You can read his Editorial and the relevant entries on Hour of Writes, as a registered member or guest.

Jack Cooper’s poem Mappa Mundi, Hereford Cathedral has been selected by judge Mario Petrucci for the Segora Poetry Competition 2018 shortlist.
To note, Jack does not live in Labafut Riviere, France. He only wishes Segora’s administrative error could be true!
The Seven Voices project asks seven creatives based in Oxford to respond to a weekly prompt. Each week you can expect to read poetry and prose, listen to striking soundscapes, and watch experimental video art.
Jack will be writing poetry and prose for the duration of the project, which you can follow at sevenvoices.weebly.com. Hover over the Seven Voices menu button, and select TT18 to view the current cohort’s work.
In this year’s National Poetry Competition, Jack Cooper’s poem “Back to Normal” was selected for the judge’s final longlist, out of more than 13,000 entries. The competition was judged by Hannah Lowe, Andrew McMillan, and Pascale Petit.
